The Mesa Collection

Made by hand. Worn for life.

Every Mesa buckle is cut, engraved and finished by hand in our Salina, Utah shop, the same way we have made them since 1876.

  • Solid sterling silver
  • Handmade in Salina, Utah
  • Six generations of silversmiths

our craft process

Three hands for each buckle.

A Mesa does not come off a press. It starts as raw sterling and passes through the hands of our silversmiths. Struck, shaped, engraved, polished. That is why no two are ever quite the same.

Struck from sterling

Each blank is formed by hand on the die, then set with its figure: a bison, a bronc, a longhorn. Only then does the engraving begin.

Shaped and cut

Shaped and cut

Edges are filed true and the clipped Mesa corners are cut in by hand, one at a time, until the plate sits square and clean.

Finished by hand

Finished by hand

The final polish is worked by hand at the wheel, bringing up the high shine against the engraving so the detail reads from across the room.

The platform

What is a Mesa Buckle?

The Mesa is built on a clipped-corner plate, a shape known for sitting more comfortably against the waist and reducing edge contact through the day. It is the same platform under every design in this collection, so the buckle you choose comes down to the figure and the finish, not the fit.

  • Material Solid sterling silver
  • Dimensions 3" × 2"
  • Fits belt size 1½"
  • Platform Mesa, clipped corners
  • Made in Salina, Utah

Three finishes

Find a Finish and Figure that suits you

We have 3 distinct finishes and tons of different figures that all help create a buckle that represents who you are.

Western engraved

Western engraved

Full hand-cut scrollwork edge to edge, with optional rope border or high polish framing the figure. The most ornate of the three, made to be noticed.

Crosshatch

Crosshatch

A fine hand-cut crosshatch field that catches light, subtly spotlighting the figure. Understated, and easy to wear every day.

Heavy matte

Heavy matte

A deep matte ground against a high-polish figure. The quietest finish in the collection, and the one that ages the best.

Mesa buckle worn

A buckle is the one piece of a western outfit you never replace. Buy it once, wear it for forty years, hand it down.
